Longtime Cleveland Anchor Leaves After 22 Years

By Kevin Eck

Denise Dufala is gone from Cleveland CBS affiliate WOIO.

“It has been a long and wonderful run, more than 22 years, to be exact,” Dufala wrote on Facebook. “For quite some time now, I have struggled with the joys of being a mom to our young son James who is already 9, and working the night shift full-time. As many of you working parents know, that time with your children before they grow up and move away goes lightning fast. I will be spending a lot more time with family and enjoying every single precious minute.”

She started anchoring at Cleveland Fox affiliate WJW in 1991 before moving to WOIO in 1994. A quick check of tveyes shows Dufala last anchored Wednesday’s 11 p.m. newscast. Her bio is off the station’s website.
