Longtime Birmingham Anchor Retiring

After 50 years in broadcasting, longtime Birmingham news anchor, Dave Baird, is retiring in September.

According to AI.com, Baird started his career when he was 15 years old. He started in radio in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. Baird joined the ABC affiliate in 1981 and became one of the station’s original in 1996.

After winning many awards, including two Emmy Awards, Baird has won two Emmy awards. He will be retiring in September when his replacement will be named.
