Longtime Atlanta Anchor Says After Covering City for Decades, Violence Won’t Create Change

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Two well-known former anchors in Atlanta are weighing in on the George Floyd protests that took over the city this weekend.

Former WSB anchors Monica Pearson and John Pruitt sat down with anchor Jorge Estevez to discuss their thoughts on the turn of events after covering news in Atlanta for decades.

“I have been in pain because I’m experiencing this on two levels,” Pearson said. “I am from Lousville, Ky. That is where I was born, so to see it happening there and to see it replicated in Atlanta, it broke my heart.”

Pearson says her message to young protestors is violence won’t help get their message across or the city.

“Violence only breeds more violence,” she said.
