Veteran journalist Mary Robb Jackson has announced her retirement from TV news.
Jackson has worked at Pittsburgh CBS owned station KDKA for 34 years, first as a general assignment reporter and later as a weekend anchor, field reporter and host of “Evening Magazine.” Jackson began her career in the 1970s as part of the WIIC (now WPXI) studio crew. She later transitioned to on-camera work as host of a 6:30 a.m. talk show.
Jackson told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that she has a long list of things she’d like to accomplish upon her retirement. “I would love to mentor kids, working with them to fall in love with reading. … I’d also like to play the ukulele and I would love to learn to speak Italian,” she said.
“But I will miss everyone,” she added. “This has been the best ride of my life.”
Jackson’s last day at KDKA is December 31.
