Leslie Rhode Leaving KXAN Again

By Kevin Eck

KXAN anchor Leslie Rhode is leaving the Austin NBC affiliate.

She told media writer Gary Dinges of Austin360.com she wants to spend more time with her family and “breathe a bit” before looking for a new job with more family friendly hours.

“I need a better work-life balance,” Rhode said. “That’s what this all comes down to. I have a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old and I want to see them more. Right now, I drop them off at school in the morning, then I don’t get to see them again until the next morning.”

“Leslie will be greatly missed,” said KXAN president and general manager Eric Lassberg. “From the bottom of our hearts, all of us at KXAN thank her for the many years of great work.”

Rhode is in her second go round at KXAN. She first started at KXAN in 1995 and worked there until 2003. She came back in 2008 after working at WJLA in Washington, D.C.
