Leadership Changes Reported at Orlando’s News 13 and Tampa’s Bay News 9

TimGeraghtyThe Orlando Sentinel is reporting Tim Geraghty, senior news director for Orlando’s News 13 has left the station.

According to Hal Boedeker, media writer for the Sentinel, Alan Mason, corporate VP of local programming for parent company Bright House Networks, told staffers, Mike Gautreau, senior news director at sister station Bay News 9, will take over as news director of both stations.

News 13 news director Rudy Murrieta reports to Gautreau.

Mason said that Geraghty was leaving the company and thanked him for his contributions to Bright House.

What’s going on? Mason said in his memo: “I am announcing organizational changes that will strengthen and streamline our ‘One Team’ culture within the Local Programming Group, including but not limited to, our two 24-hour local news channels, our regional sports and Spanish channels, and our online, mobile and on-demand services.”

The consolidation reflects streamlining in news operations everywhere.

Bright House said in a statement: “We are extremely proud of Bright House Networks news operations — one of the best local news operations in the country. These changes are yet another way that Bright House Networks continues to strengthen its local news, weather and sports programming.”

Geraghty posted an update on his facebook page, dated January 5, that said “Left Job at Central Florida News 13.”
