Late Atlanta Anchor Jovita Moore May Get Highway Named After Her

The late Jovita Moore may soon have an Atlanta street named after her.

Moore died in Oct. 2021 after battling an aggressive form of brain cancer. Georgia State Representative Park Cannon filed a resolution last week to name a state highway near the WSB headquarters after the anchor.

“Whereas, a staple of WSB-TV’s main anchor desk sine 2021, Ms. Moore was cherished immensely by her friends and colleagues for her wonderful heart and charming spirit,” the resolution reads.

“She gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience and understanding she demonstrated to her family and friends were admired by others,” the resolution read. “It is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be recognized appropriately by dedicating a road in her memory.”

If the resolution passes, the portion of State Route 13 from Interstate 75/85 to Peachtree Road will be named the Jovita Moore Memorial Highway.

A copy of the resolution was presented to Moore’s family and to the Department of Transportation.
