Lansing’s WILX Swaps Morning, Evening Anchors

By Merrill Knox

Beginning today, the morning and evening anchors at Lansing NBC-affiliate WILX will get new assignments.

Previously, the morning and evening newscasts were anchored solo — by Lauren Evans in the morning, David Andrews (pictured) at 5 and 6 p.m. and Jason Colthorp at 11 p.m. Beginning today, Colthorp and Edwards will be paired to anchor the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts, and Andrews will helm the morning newscasts.

“I’m definitely a morning person,” Andrews told the Lansing State Journal. Beginning today, the morning newscasts will also start a half-hour earlier, at 4:30 a.m.

“Viewers’ habits are constantly changing,” WILX general manager Michael King said. “People are getting up earlier; they want information quickly.”
