Walt Hunter, reporter for CBS-owned station KYW, is retiring at the end of May.
Hunter has worked at the Philadelphia station for 36 of the 44 years he’s been in broadcasting.
Hunter told viewers he would miss working at the station. “It’s family,” he said on a Facebook live video with anchor Ukee Washington. “That’s exactly what we are here, so that’s going to be the hard part.”

The station says Hunter started out covering the police beat and has “earned a reputation for breaking many of the Philadelphia area’s top stories.”
He worked as a volunteer firefighter for 29 years in his community.
