KUSA Puts Anchor Choice up to Viewer Vote

By Kevin Eck

KUSA candidatesDenver NBC affiliate KUSA asked viewers to vote whether they wanted reporter Kevin Torres or current anchor Kyle Clark as the next evening anchor.

According to the station, the election was trending on twitter in Denver. Clark beat Torres 364-270 and gets to keep his job. TVSpy didn’t take the time to investigate how the votes were tallied. Though, we did ask KUSA what would have happened had Clark lost. We’ll update when we hear back.

The race came complete with attack ads. After the race, the two candidates released statements. Here’s Clark’s.

“Kevin Torres on the anchor desk would be nothing but a rubber-stamp for Drew Soicher’s radical agenda. That’s why I have the endorsement of Adele Arakawa and the support of Kathy Sabine who said, ‘Sure. Just stop bothering me. I’m working on a forecast.’ For years, Coloradans have trusted me to make funny faces at the camera following ridiculous stories and patently untrue comments from politicians. We just can’t trust Kevin Torres to do the same.”

You can watch both candidates attack ads after the jump.
