KTLA News Director Adds Vice President of Content Development to Title

Jason Ball, the vp and news director of KTLA in Los Angeles, is expanding his daily duties with Tribune.

He will continue to oversee news operations while overseeing content development across all Tribune broadcast and digital properties.

“Having a leader of Jason’s caliber to help us prioritize and focus appropriate resources will strengthen our connection with our communities and increase Tribune’s competitive advantage in our markets. Jason and his team have done a terrific job creating high quality original linear and non-linear content at KTLA, and we’re excited to have his help executing Tribune’s strategy across our group,” said Bart Feder, svp of news for Tribune Broadcasting.

Ball will oversee editorial initiatives and create best practices around the production of video and audio content.

Since joining KTLA in 2008, Ball has doubled the amount of news produced from 32 to 78.5 hours a week. KTLA also produces 10 hours of live-streaming news, Alexa briefs and a handful of podcasts.

Ball is a 27-year veteran of the industry. He spent seven years at other local station in Los Angeles prior to joining KTLA.
