Kristine Leahy Joins KCBS-KCAL

By Kevin Eck

Kristine Leahy (pictured left) has joined KCBS-KCAL in Los Angeles as a sports anchor and reporter.

“Kristine joins us from the FOX-owned station in Boston where she has been a sports anchor/reporter covering all the professional teams in Beantown,” news director Scott Diener told staffers in a station memo.  “KCAL9 and Los Angeles Lakers fans will remember Kristine from her days back in 2008 when she did reporting on the Lakers Fan Cam for nightly broadcasts as an intern for KCAL9.”

After the jump you can read the entire memo and see Leahy (video alert!) in her first day of work, sitting next to co-anchor Gary Miller.

I am pleased to announce the addition of Kristine Leahy to our on-air sports team as an anchor/reporter.  Kristine joins us from the FOX-owned station in Boston where she has been a sports anchor/reporter covering all the professional teams in Beantown.  She grew up in Chicago and holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Boston University.  KCAL9 and Los Angeles Lakers fans will remember Kristine from her days back in 2008 when she did reporting on the Lakers Fan Cam for nightly broadcasts as an intern for KCAL9.  Kristine enjoys swimming, hiking and spending time with her pug named Jersey (not named after the show, she likes to point out).  And of course, she loves covering sports!

Please join me in welcoming Kristine to the duopoly.  Her first day will be Wednesday, September 12.

Here’s a look at her first broadcast:
