KPRC News Director Dave Strickland No Longer With Houston Station

KPRC news director Dave Strickland is no longer with the Graham Media Group station.

Houston media blogger Mike McGuff said “multiple sources have confirmed that Strickland is out at the station.

Strickland had been the news director at the Houston NBC affiliate since 2016. He held the same role at ABC owned KTRK for 15 years before that.

In September, station owner Graham Media Group hired Phil Lane as the station’s new general manager. Lane had worked at GMG’s San Antonio station KSAT since 2011 before moving to KPRC.

“Dave Strickland is simply the best in the business, as proven by his record at KTRK and KPRC over the last many years,” former KTRK anchor Dave Ward told mikemcguff.com. “One would be hard pressed to find anybody who knows news better than Dave Strickland.”

“I’m shocked and disappointed, Dave was one of the best news directors in the country,” said former KTRK assistant news director and reporter Don Kobos, who worked with Strickland for 25 years, told mikemcguff.com. “He made channel 13 KTRK and KPRC newscasts better, award winning and number one. Houston loses a giant.”
