KOVR Reporter Tony Lopez Scuffles With Protesters at Occupy Sacramento

By Merrill Knox

While covering yesterday’s Occupy Sacramento protest, KOVR reporter Tony Lopez found himself in the center of a confrontation with some protesters who were not happy to see the media (watch the video above).

Lopez, who asked several people why they were participating in the event, drew the ire of one group of protesters in particular. “Channel 13, why are you here?” one of them shouted.

The Occupy Sacramento protest, which drew about 300 people during the day yesterday and stretched on through the night, was the lead of KOVR’s 10 p.m. newscast on Thursday. Lopez told anchors Sam Shane and Pallas Hupé that the Sacramento section of the national movement was “just trying to find their footing.”
