KOMO Reporter: ‘Thank You for Saving My Life’

By Mark Joyella

Keith Eldridge, a longtime reporter at Seattle ABC affiliate KOMO, is back at work after open heart surgery he underwent just four months ago. In preparation for a charity walk this weekend, Eldridge went back to talk to the surgeons who saved his life.

One of the surgeons, Dr. Sumeet Subherwal, told Eldridge his condition when he arrived at the hospital back in May was critical, with “a potential sudden-death type event” possible within hours if surgery wasn’t performed.

Surgeons did six hours of open-heart surgery to repair a 95 percent blockage in the heart’s left main artery. Eldridge, who now does cardiac rehab several mornings a week, asked to shake both of his surgeons’ hands. “Thank you for saving my life.”
