KABB, the Fox affiliate in San Antonio, has hired a new morning meteorologist.

Former KOCO-TV weatherman Brad Sowder will join the Fox News First morning team on Monday, March 5.

“Brad brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in handling severe weather, which we know is so important to help our viewers protect themselves in Texas’ unusual weather patterns,” said news director Mandi Johnston Mendoza. “He also has a fun personality that will fit right in with Ernie Zuniga and Breanna Barrs on Fox News First.”

Sowder made the announcement in a Facebook Live video.

“My contract was up and my family and I were looking for a new opportunity,” he said.

The Emmy Award winning meteorologist holds a certificate from the American Meteorological Society. He is one of the only meteorologists that has chased a tornado from a helicopter.

Before Oklahoma, Sowder worked in Colorado Springs and Grand Junction, Colorado.
