A KNXV staffer and Afghanistan veteran died Tuesday night when his motorcycle collided with an SUV in Surprise, AZ, just outside of Phoenix. Curtis Brower was 31 and had been working as a studio camera operator for the ABC affiliate.
“It’s devastating,” said KNXV anchor Rebecca Thomas. “You have a great guy who served his country, made it through Afghanistan to come home and have this happen.” Brower served in both the navy and the army, and had just finished a tour in Afghanistan last spring before joining the KNXV team.
Brower became familiar to Phoenix viewers last week when he was spotted wearing a Denver Broncos jersey during a newscast, instead of supporting the hometown Cardinals. His smile and friendly wave to the camera now serves as a reminder of his positive outlook and sense of humor. (KNXV video)
