By Mark Joyella

Gadi Schwartz, a reporter at NBC-owned KNBC in Los Angeles, will move to NBC News in March. Schwartz, who joined KNBC in 2013 from KOB in Albuquerque, N.M., will work from the Los Angeles bureau.

“Many of you know Gadi from his recent reporting for NBC News over the last seven months, including his coverage of the devastating California wildfires and the San Bernardino terror attacks,” writes NBC senior vice president of news gathering David Verdi in a memo announcing the hire. “We are grateful to our partners at KNBC who shared Gadi with us during a busy breaking news period.”

At KOB, Schwartz was a weekend anchor and investigative reporter.

Here’s Verdi’s full memo:

All,

We are pleased to announce that Gadi Schwartz will join NBC News in March as a correspondent based in the Los Angeles bureau. He comes from KNBC, our owned television station in Los Angeles, where he has worked as a general assignment reporter since 2013.

Many of you know Gadi from his recent reporting for NBC News over the last seven months, including his coverage of the devastating California wildfires and the San Bernardino terror attacks. We are grateful to our partners at KNBC who shared Gadi with us during a busy breaking news period.

He covered many high-profile stories at KNBC, including the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College and the immigration crisis at the Mexican border. Prior to KNBC, he spent nearly a decade at KOB-TV in Albuquerque, where he was a weekend co-anchor and a managing investigator for the station’s investigative unit.

His investigative, consumer and feature reporting has been recognized with five Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards.

We are excited Gadi is joining us full time and know he’ll be a great addition to our intrepid team of correspondents.

Please join me in welcoming him to NBC News.

David
