Veteran KNBC reporter Beverly White received the Chuck Stone Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Association of Black Journalists conference over the weekend in Detroit.
“We are so proud of all that Bev has accomplished and the great value she provides to our viewers on a daily basis,” said Steve Carlston, president and general manager of NBC4 Southern California. “We are all honored to be her teammates and congratulate her for a stellar career.”
White has covered local and national stories since 1992 in the Los Angeles market. Earlier this month, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors recognized White for her journalism career.
“I’m thrilled to receive the 2018 Chuck Stone Lifetime Achievement Award from the NABJ, named for the late Philadelphia Daily News columnist, former Tuskegee Airman, educator and NABJ co-founder,” said White. “Stone was a legend for speaking truth to power and breaking down barriers for black journalists. In my early years with NABJ, I was honored to be in his presence many times before his death in 2014.”
White earned a broadcast journalism degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
