>Update: Here’s a statement from the station about the fire…

Late this morning, an NBC4 news van caught on fire on the 405 Freeway just north of the Getty Center.  The driver, one of our photographers who was returning from a story in Newport Beach, was the only person in the vehicle and was unharmed.  The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. While we regularly inspect our vehicles, we are taking precautionary measures to examine our entire truck and van fleet to further ensure their safety.   We are grateful to the Fire Department who responded quickly to extinguish the fire.  We are also comforted that no one was hurt in the during the incident and will work closely with officials as they investigate the cause.  The cause of the fire is unknown.
