KMOV Allows Viewers to Check Weather the Old Fashioned Way

St. Louis CBS affiliate KMOV has partnered with a local health care system to give viewers a real-time look at weather the old-fashioned way, with a look out the virtual window.

The BJC SkyCam network allows KMOV viewers access to video from cameras mounted on BJC Hospitals around the St. Louis metro area.

“Radar provides a good indication of what’s going on, but it does have its limitations,” says KMOV chief meteorologist Steve Templeton. “Being able to actually see what’s happening is much more valuable, especially during inclement weather.”

“The way our BJC SkyCam network is positioned can give us a very real picture of what is headed our way,” says Templeton. “The KMOV meteorologists in the studio will be monitoring all of the SkyCam cameras, so even while I’m on the air, they may switch to one of the cameras to show our viewers exactly what’s happening, as it happens.”
