KMBC Discrimination Lawsuit Has ‘Amicable’ Ending

Three KMBC journalists who sued the ABC affiliate for age and gender discrimination have reached a settlement with the station.

KMBC management made the announcement at a Thursday staff meeting. The three–Kelly Eckerman, Peggy Breit and Maria Albisu-Twyman, known on air as Maria Antonia–will be staying on at the television station.

A statement issued by KMBC described the resolution as “amicable” and said that it had come “after some open and frank conversation” between the women and station management. More…
