KHOU’s Lisa Hernandez Looks To Bring Morning Energy to Primetime Newscasts

Lisa Hernandez, who debuted yesterday on KHOU, is bringing her experience as a morning anchor to the evening newscasts on the Houston CBS-affiliate.

“I enjoyed the energy of it, and I hope to bring that energy to a primetime newscast,” Hernandez told the Houston Chronicle. “It’s a different hour and a different vibe, but I’ll try to be myself and be a reporter in the big chair.”

Hernandez was formerly the weekend morning anchor at KABC in Los Angeles. She co-anchors the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts on KHOU with Greg Hurst.

“(KABC) is not one of those stations where there’s a lot of upward mobility,” she said. “When this opportunity opened up, I jumped on it and crossed my fingers, and here I am.”
