KENS, the Tegna-owned CBS affiliate in San Antonio, is celebrating the appointment of longtime anchor Deborah Knapp to the late night newscast alongside Jeff Brady.

Knapp, who just celebrated her 30th anniversary with the station, has been filling in since longtime anchor Sara Lucero left in November.

“I’m thrilled to make the move permanent,” Knapp said. “I enjoy working with Jeff, Bill, Joe and our terrific reporters each night. After talking it over with my husband, we felt this was a great move for me and our family.”

“Deborah is a mentor to many in our newsroom and a leader for our station and community,” said Jack Acosta, executive news director. “We are lucky to have her.”

Knapp will continue to anchor the 4 and 5 p.m. newscasts.

Knapp is joined on the anchor desk by Brady, chief weather forecaster Bill Taylor and sports director Joe Reinagel. Combined they all have 85 years experience covering San Antonio.
