KENS Anchor Pursues Dream to Become a Meteorologist

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

KENS anchor Stacia Wilson has worn many hats at the Tegna owned station in San Antonio.

First, as an anchor-reporter.

Then as a morning traffic anchor alongside Sarah Forgany and Barry Davis. Now, a new title. Wilson is forecasting the weather weekdays and noon and is working towards becoming a certified meteorologist.

“If you would have told me five years ago, you’re going to be doing weather at KENS, I would have laughed,” she said to MySanAntonio.com.

“Stacia has put in a lot of work studying meteorology,’ executive news director Jack Acosta said in a statement to the paper. ‘I’m impressed by her drive. She has years of experience in San Antonio covering news in the field, reporting traffic, and now she’s adding weather. We are lucky to have her.”

Wilson, who has been at KENS for 10 years, is currently the station’s traffic anchor at 4, 5 and 6p.m. She will complete her certification through Penn State University by the end of the year. At that time she hopes to fill in whenever needed.

“Then I can be called a meteorologist,” she said.
