KENS 5 Reporter Marvin Hurst Talks About Throat Cancer Diagnosis

Reporter Marvin Hurst is known as the resident food expert at KENS 5, the Tegna-owned CBS affiliate, in San Antonio.

Last week, he told viewers about something unexpected that has landed on his plate: he has throat cancer.

Hurst, who has been with the station for 14 years, made the announcement about his diagnosis on Facebook. He says he was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma just two days after Christmas.

“For more than twenty years I’ve gone into people’s homes where they shared stories with me, a lot of them incredibly tragic and sad more than good,”

Martin said he he opted out of surgery and will receive chemotherapy instead. He plans to document his journey for viewers.
