There’s an anchor shuffle happening at KCEN, the Tegna station in Waco, Texas.
Former morning anchor and 16-year veteran Kris Radcliffe will move nightside to anchor the evening newscasts with Leslie Draffin. Weekend anchor Chris Rogers moves to weekday mornings and nightside reporter Emani Payne will slide into the weekend anchor seat.
These moves mark the end of a recent station makeover which included new graphics, added content including Tegna’s award-winning segment Verify and Megaphone, a tool used in newscasts to promote viewer engagement on hot button issues.
“We think that these changes overall will really benefit our viewers, and I’m excited to see how Kris Radcliffe, Chris Rogers, and Emani Payne will help continue the growth we’ve seen since moving to Temple,” said general manager Gayle Kiger.
Former evening anchor Doug Currin left the station last week to pursue other projects. “He was committed to the Central Texas military community and told many great stories along the way. He is a true professional and he will be missed,” said news director Jim Hice.
