KCEN AM Meteorologist Shot Multiple Times in Morning Shooting

crawford KCEN croppedPatrick Crawford, the morning meteorologist for Temple, Texas NBC affiliate KCEN was shot multiple times in this morning’s parking lot shooting at the station.

>UPDATE: KECN reported at 3:20 p.m. police have taken a “person of interest in the shooting” into custody. We’ll have more updates as the story develops.

>UPDATE: KCEN reports at 5:11 p.m. Crawford is out of surgery and in stable condition. The station also reports, “The suspect hasn’t been located, but they took a suspect in custody and police say he’s not likely tied at all to the shooting.”

KCEN reports the Department of Public Safety said the shooting suspect exchanged words with Crawford before pulling out a semi-automatic handgun and firing.

The employee, Patrick Crawford, a morning show meteorologist at the station for the last two years, managed to drive away and flag down a construction worker, who called for help.

Police are still searching for the suspect, described as a white male, 30-35 years old, wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and dark jeans. Wilson also said he has a receding hairline.

Crawford was taken to Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, where he was undergoing surgery late Wednesday morning, [DPS Trooper D.L.] Wilson said.

Crawford has worked at KCEN since September 2012.
