Local CBS affiliate KBAK and its Fox affiliate sister station, KBFX, are racing to become the first television stations in the Bakersfield market to broadcast local, original content in high definition.
High definition broadcasts have five times the resolution of conventional broadcasts, allowing for far superior picture and sound.

Most local television stations eliminated analog broadcasts in June of last year, when the federal government imposed a deadline on high-power stations to switch to exclusively digital. That deadline did not apply to low-power television stations, which have more time to make the transition. More…
