KARE Sports Producer Andy Trowbridge Dies at 35

Minneapolis sports producer Andy Trowbridge died over the weekend following a brief illness. He was 35.

Trowbridge started at NBC affiliate KARE as an intern in the sports department nearly 15 years ago and went on to produce weekend and weeknight sportscasts and the Vikings Extra show.

“Andy worked his way to become our sports producer, a job he loved with all his heart,” said anchor Randy Shaver in an on-air tribute. “Cool, calm, focused, but would always sneak in that sly grin, even when there was chaos all around him. He relished that role. There wasn’t a job too big or too small. He would get it done, and done right. Andy was sweet, kind, thoughtful, funny, the kind of person that could be your life-long friend.”

The station said he “will be deeply missed by all of his friends and colleagues at KARE.”

His family is requesting that donations be made to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research & Community Fund.
