Rhonda LaVelle has been named general manager of Rochester, Minn. ABC affiliate KAAL.
Lavelle was the news director at WXYZ in Detroit until December 2020. She takes over for David Harbert who retired after 15 years with the station.
In a press release she posted on her LinkedIn page, Lavelle said she was honored to be joining Hubbard Broadcasting.
“I look forward to working with the team to help evolve KAAL on all platforms,” said Lavelle. “The Rochester area is rich with heritage and I cannot wait to jump right in and be a part of this wonderful community.”

She has also worked as news director at KPRC in Houston and was the executive producer at WDIV in Detroit for 16 years before that.
