Julie Chang is back on KTTV after recovering from brain surgery in November.
Chang showed the scan of her brain which revealed the tumor on air. Anchor Steve Edwards described it as the being the size of a clementine.
Chang told Edwards and co-anchors Lisa Breckenridge and Maria Quiban, “To put it simply California saved my life.” Chang said she took up surfing when she moved from New York to California. She said she banged her face on her surfboard, got a CT scan to make sure she hadn’t broken anything and discovered she had a brain tumor.
On set, Chang talked about the surgery and the symptoms she experienced before the tumor was found. She said her eyesight has been the only casualty of the tumor saying, “I’m 100 percent back with the exception of my vision.”
