Jon Chrisos Returning to Local TV as Anchor for WMTW in Portland, Maine

By Kevin Eck

Jon Chrisos is coming back to local news after a brief absence. He’s been named an evening anchor for Portland, Maine ABC affiliate WMTW.

Chrisos left Portland CBS affiliate WGME last August. According to the station, he wanted to “explore the business community.”

“After an extensive search, we’re excited to have Jon return to local news and make Channel 8 his new home,” said Dave Abel, WMTW president & general manager.

On Monday, Chrisos will join anchors Meghan Torjussen and Allison Ross, chief meteorologist Roger Griswold and sports director Travis Lee at 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m.

“I’ve really missed journalism and serving those in my home state. I’m grateful for this exciting opportunity to join the talented team at Channel 8 WMTW and Hearst Television,” said Chrisos. “There’s so much happening in Maine, the country, and the world—and I look forward to delivering Total Coverage and Investigations with fairness, transparency, and context.”

“Jon is a Maine native. That personal connection and the more than ten years of experience working on behalf of the Maine people as an investigative reporter will have an immediate impact on all our platforms, including newscasts which are already seeing ratings success,” said news director Amy Beveridge.
