Jeff Zucker Announces Departure From NBC

It’s not a good day to be the head of a network. Following CNN’s announcement about Jon Klein, Jeff Zucker told The New York Times that he would be leaving NBC upon Comcast’s acquisition of the company.

“Look, I knew from the day this was announced that this was a possibility,” Zucker said of the Comcast-NBCU deal and his tenuous position in the company’s plan for the future. “In the last nine months it became increasingly clear that they did want to put their own team in place–and I didn’t want to end up being a guest in my own house.”

NYT media reporter Dave Itzkoff summed up a morning in which two major media entities lost their leaders, tweeting, “The following network presidents are still employed: CBS; Hallmark Channel; MTV Tr3s; ESPN 8; UHF Channel 62. That is all.” More…
