WBBM’s Steve Baskerville Nearly Forgets 25 Year Anniversary: ‘It slipped by me’

By Kevin Eck

Veteran WBBM meteorologist Steve Baskerville may have forgotten his 25th year anniversary at the Chicago CBS O&O if it wasn’t for a gentle reminder, according to Time Out Chicago’s Robert Feder.

It wasn’t until I showed him a clip of my Sun-Times column reporting his arrival in 1987 that Baskerville realized he’d reached that milestone. “It slipped by me,” he said. “I’m really fortunate to stay employed so long. I made my Uncle B.C. proud. He thought the real security was learning how to fix TVs — not be on TV!”

Before joining WBBM as meteorologist, Baskerville was the weather anchor for “CBS This Morning” from 1984 to 1987.  Before that he worked at KYW in Philadelphia as weather anchor and co-host of a morning talk show with Maury Povich.

After the jump, you can watch a short video of Baskerville talking about how he got his start.

According to Feder, it seems Baskerville has no plans to slow down,

As for another 25 years? “I hope they don’t go so fast,” he said.
