WPEC anchor and reporter Israel Balderas has hung up his IFB, leaving the West Palm Beach CBS affiliate to become a full-time professor of journalism and media law at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
“I’m looking forward to taking what I know and love into the classroom,” Balderas said. “The news business is at a crossroads, and inspiring the next generation of critical-thinking journalists to hold the powerful accountable, ask tough questions and question the answers – all while ignoring the cacophony of distractors – will be a blast.”
Balderas arrived at WPEC in 2013 from WCCB in Charlotte. In a video he posted on Facebook, Balderas thanked his co-workers and viewers as he prepared to anchor his final Sunday broadcast:
