CBS-owned station WBBM has hired Irika Sargent as an evening anchor.

“Irika is a talented broadcaster who possesses great experience as a journalist and additional insights that were developed during her time as an attorney,” said WBBM vp and news director Jeff Kiernan.

Sargent comes from CBS-owned WFOR in Miami. Before that, she worked at KPRC in Houston.

Robert Feder reports Sargent will work alongside Rob Johnson as a replacement for Kate Sullivan.

No word on what’s next for Sullivan. “We have enjoyed having Kate as a member of our news team during the past five years,” Kiernan told staffers in a memo. “She is a talented and experienced broadcaster and we have no doubt that she will continue to shine, both personally and professionally, in all of her future endeavors. We wish her all the best.”
