Indy Sports Anchor Jason Spells Leaves for Dallas

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WTHR sports anchor Jason Spells says he is leaving Indianapolis after close to a decade in the market for a job in Texas.

In his on-air farewell to viewers, he said Sunday was the last time he’d host 13 SportsJam and that he would move to Dallas within the week.

“For the past nine years I’ve called Indianapolis home, and I wanted to spend my final few moments here thanking the viewers,” Spells said. “You’ve invited me into your homes, and it’s an invite I’ve never taken for granted.”

Spells started at RTV6, the ABC affiliate in town, in 2009. In 2014, he moved to the NBC affiliate.

Prior to that, he was a sports reporter in Raleigh, N.C.

It’s unclear which station he will join in the Lone Star state.
