As the city of Indianapolis celebrated the Butler Bulldogs’ unlikely trip to the NCAA national championship game, WISH-TV issued a contradictory report–that the underdog Bulldogs actually lost their Final Four game against Michigan State.

Reporting on the big game, veteran anchor Debby Knox said, “The Butler Bulldogs fall short in their match-up with Michigan State.”

The video of Knox’s slip-up has now made the rounds on YouTube and WISH’s owner, LIN TV, has acted swiftly in getting most of them taken off of YouTube due to copyright infringement.

According to her station bio, Knox “has been a staple in Indiana homes for more than two decades” and it’s unlikely that the longtime anchor was confused by the outcome of the game, rather it appears that the mistake was a simple slip-of-the-tongue. Knox was active on Twitter during the Butler-Michigan State game, issuing regular updates and Bulldogs cheers. Before anchoring the evening newscast, Knox declared the correct outcome of the game, tweeting “Butler wins!”
