Indiana Political Reporter to Retire

By Kevin Eck

Jim Shella, reporter for Indianapolis CW affiliate WISH, is retiring after more than 34 years covering Indiana politics.

“I arrived at WISH-TV looking for a job and found a career,” said Shella. “I have been given the privilege to cover Indiana politics with the freedom to pursue stories that other stations ignore. I send my thanks to the viewers who made it possible.”

WISH says Shella, who started at WISH in 1982, has covered Indiana politics longer than any other TV reporter in the state.

He started his career at WMT (KGAN) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He’s also worked at WOOD in Grand Rapids, Mich., when it was WOTV.

His last day is Friday, Nov. 11.
