In Pennsylvania, Contentious Political Ad Stays on WNEP

The top-rated television station in Northeastern Pennsylvania has decided to keep airing a campaign commercial that rips Democratic U.S. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski for supporting the nation’s health-care reform law.

A lawyer for WNEP-TV reviewed the commercial bought by the 60 Plus Association and decided the dispute over its content “is between the two parties, not really the television station,” station President and Chief Executive Officer Chuck Morgan said.

Kanjorski is facing Republican Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta for the 11th Congressional District seat. More…
