In New York, WNBC’s Bet on Snow Coverage Pays Off

Channel 4 put down the biggest bet on snow coverage Wednesday and came out the biggest winner.

While almost every television station started a storm report before dawn and returned for regular extended updates, WNBC/Ch. 4 took the exceptional step of blowing out everything all day except some early segments of the “Today” show.

Ch. 4’s coverage did feature some unusual stylistic touches, like having afternoon hosts David Ushery and Erika Tarantal wander around the set in casualwear and putting too many silly hats on people like meteorologist Janice Huff.
