In Minneapolis, WCCO Expresses Excitement for Future

By now, pretty much everyone knows who the number one local news organization is when it comes to page views: the Star Tribune. But who’s number two? Arguably, WCCO-TV.

Sure, it’s only one metric, but from its near-prehistoric incarnation as Channel 4000, WCCO has been a news-site leader. Its recent unveiling of The Wire–a graphical, timeline-based news-and-infotainment stream–may never be widely adopted, but such experiments impress at a time when legacy media knows it must try new things, while not necessarily knowing what (or how).

WCCOers–from reporters and weathercasters to producers and promotions people–just seem more jazzed about the future than your average news organization. More…
