In Final Push, Trump Campaign to Buy More Local Ad Time

In the final week of the election, several local TV stations in battleground markets will see aditional ad revenue, thanks to Donald J. Trump.

The Wall Street Journal reports Trump “wired $10 million of his own money into his presidential campaign Friday morning,” with the purpose of buying ad time.

The new commercials will attack Mrs. Clinton as an insider, alleging that the Clinton family improperly used its government and foundation ties for personal gain, and contrast her with Mr. Trump as being an agent of change, one adviser said. They will air in the key states of Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Virginia, he said. The campaign may surprise observers with ads in other states, too, he added.

Several TV station ownership groups have had to revise their revenue forecasts because the GOP nominee had been relying on large-scale rallies and news appearances rather than paid spots to get his message out.

The WSJ reports the Clinton campaign had about $48 million of TV advertising booked for the final week of the campaign, while Trump had $36 million reserved.
