In Dallas, KXAS Announces Plans for 11 a.m. Newscast With Rotating Anchors

KXAS, the NBC owned-and-operated station in Dallas, has announced the launch of an 11 a.m. newscast starting next month. It will be anchored by a rotating schedule of solo anchors from within the ranks of the KXAS news team.

The half-hour newscast, which will launch on September 5 with weekend anchor and reporter Ashanti Blaize (pictured, right) in the anchor chair, is the first newscast in the 11 a.m. timeslot in the market, according to KXAS.

“We see this as an opportunity to provide North Texans with more live, local news in a time period not served by another news organization,” KXAS president and general manager Tom Ehlmann said in a statement.

This is the second expansion KXAS has made of news programming this year. This spring, the station added a half-hour of news at 4:30 a.m.
