In CNN’s Search for Sucessor, Questions on Strategy

Larry King, 76, is preparing to sign off from CNN’s signature nightly show, Larry King Live, this fall after 25 years, countless interviews and almost as many marriages and divorces.

CNN has begun a search for his replacement, centered on three most-discussed candidates: CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric, whose contract expires this fall; Piers Morgan, a former British talk-show host and now judge of NBC’s summer staple America’s Got Talent ; and Ryan Seacrest, the ubiquitous American Idol host whom King himself says he wants for the job.
