After a feature on the Spelling Bee champion last Friday night, KNBC was doing a followup story on how spelling has gotten worse, especially because of texting and social media.
Producers used a soundbite from a Purdue University professor saying as much. One problem: someone misspelled Purdue in her dropline, using the spelling associated with the chicken, not the school. Adding insult to injury, the professor did her interview from a studio at Purdue with PURDUE — spelled correctly — behind her.
