WAND news director Tai Takahashi is leaving the Decatur, Illinois NBC affiliate to be the assistant news director at KGW in Portland, Oregon.
“Although I absolutely loved my time at WAND, KGW offered me an opportunity I could not refuse,” Takahashi told TVSpy. “Plus, for the first time in 20 years, I will be living in the same city as half of my family. I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Takahashi was named news director at WAND in 2009. He was news director at WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky before that. He’s also worked at KOMO in Seattle, Washington, WTLV-WJXX in Jacksonville, Fla. and both WAGA and WXIA in Atlanta.

His last day at WAND is Friday, June 17 and he plans to start at KGW on Monday, June 27.
