Illinois Anchor Heads to Kansas City

Newsers are still making moves at a time when many companies still have hiring freezes in place.

WEEK anchor Caitlin Knute announced she’ll be leaving the East Peoria, Ill., station for Kansas City, Mo. She’ll anchor the 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. newscasts at NBC affiliate KSHB, and will be part of the station’s investigative team.

“I’m so excited for this opportunity to really focus on the aspect of the job I love most, but I’m sad to leave a station and area that will always have a special place in my heart,” Knute wrote.

Knute joined WEEK in 2016 as an anchor on the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. shows with co-anchor Tyler Lopez.

“She has done a fantastic job for us and we would love to have her here forever, but she has a great opportunity to ascend to large-market television,” said Mark DeSantis, that station’s vice president and general manager. “We wish her well, and I know she will do a great job in her new role.”

WEEK intends to soon announce Knute’s replacement.
