Iconic Harrisburg Anchor Let Go; Viewers Aren’t Happy

A Harrisburg local news icon says she’s been let go from WHTM.

In a post on her Facebook page, Flora Posteraro shared that she was no longer employed with the Nexstar station where she’s worked since 1997.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I must tell you I no longer work for abc27news. This was not my choice. It has been a privilege and an honor to come into your home every night for the last 20 years and give you the news of the day,” she said on Tuesday.

The community isn’t taking the news lightly. Viewers have left endless comments on her wall and Posteraro’s son set up an Facebook page in her honor called ‘I Stand With Flora Posteraro’.

It has more than 500 followers and says you should like it “if you stand up for equality, professionalism, and respect for women in your workplace, you deserve to be heard.”

Neither the station nor Posteraro have made comments. The Emmy-award winning anchor has previously worked for other stations in Pennsylvania including WPVI.
